It is what it is, sure look, here we are, that’s life, could be worse, you are lucky it’s a good thing you had no kids, Jesus, I don’t know how you do it, I can’t even imagine, fair play, you are so brave at 37, what is meant for you won’t pass you, I will say a prayer for you ( I will allow this one from my 96 year old granny) blah, blah, blah…..These are all the gems you hear when you have come out of a 10 year marriage and 23 year relationship. People think they are being helpful and I like to give them the benefit of the doubt, in that they mean no ill-will, because generally they don’t and are trying to help in those awkward moments when they have no idea what to say.
Here I am, putting some thoughts to digital paper on my musings and thoughts of being single and discovering ‘me’ and not ‘we’, not the missus, the wife, you get the picture, at the ripe old age of 39. I am now 39, I was 37 when I became a single pringle navigating this new single world of dating apps, d*** pics and all the weirdos in- between.
I have entered into the awful, grim, soul destroying ,sometimes funny, sometimes not so funny and the oh Jesus the grass is not greener over here single era of my life… in my late 30’s.
I am one of the lucky ones who has loved, been loved and all of the amazing ups and downs that come with sharing your life with someone. The good, bad and the ugly. To be precise, a best friend, a partner in crime, cheerleader, a husband, and an all around amazing sound man!
Nothing is forever, not even the bad days. The universe loves a good plot twist.
Meeting your childhood sweetheart at 14, having an amazing life together filled with laughter, love, lots of travelling, good health, ill health, lots of challenges and hurdles, setting up shop abroad a couple of times is an experience a lot aren’t so fortunate to get. Now here I am trying to be grateful for it all whilst navigating my ‘new life’ and ‘new normal’ with the help and support of some truly amazing people in my life. I would truly be lost without my amazing family and friends. I feel I will never be able to thank them all adequately, they know who they are and I ❤️ them so much.
It has only been 4 months since I dipped my toe in the weird world of dating apps but my my has it been wild and good lord do I have some stories to tell! So join me….. stay tuned for more…
Lots of love
Andi
